The Year 2008

The new year is almost upon us, as hard to believe as that might seem and I cannot believe the year that myself, this blog, and my stories have had. I was able to accomplish many good things in 2008.

I wrote my first interracial relationship story, Ghetto Gospel, my first family drama, The Waverly Myth, my first supernatural mystery, The Flower Girl, and I wrote my longest story, and my most popular one to date, The Prettiest Thing - which is being posted once again on Fictionpress for those who are interested in reading it. I also wrote two short stories that I am extremely proud of: Piper’s Hidden Kiss and Raven’s Ridge.

I dealt with self-doubt, as I always seem to suffer from, and had a complete lack of confidence, which resulted in me taking down some of my works-in-progresses and taking a short break from writing. I lost many readers this year for one reason or another but gained others and I kept some of my most loyal friends/readers who have been with me since the beginning.

I am excited for 2009 and I already am brainstorming about a follow-up to The Flower Girl titled Soldier Boy, which will be about Simon Fowlers, the son of Alice and Brookston. I also plan on continuing with A Pocketful of Poppies, The Beginning of Eden and The Winter Solstice.

I am also going to try to get some of my works published. I was thinking of perhaps putting together a collection of short stories. One of my close friends would like me to send her a manuscript and she is going to see what she can do for me. Even if nothing comes of it, I am excited to be taking this step and am happy with whatever the outcome may be. At least I am giving it a try.

As many of you know, I love to write and even if I never become a published author, I will still have you all to write for and I could not be more grateful for that and for you. I have some of the most loyal fans considering I am just a mere web-writer but I thank you from the bottom of my heart for a fantastic year and here is to hoping for an excellent 2009.

Love Kate

Is it really almost the new year already? You know, after reading all you've done I kind of blanch at if I have any accomplishments myself. Which is a compliment, I'm pretty certain.

I don't think I've ever come across a web-writer who's stories I've read so many of, so can I say that I doubt being a simple web-writer will stick for you? It's too easy to see you being published.

Thanks for all the great stories you've put up and I hope that you don't stop posting. Some of us read and don't review b/c we don't really think anything needs to be changed and the story is great as is. We may not always review but we're still here supporting your work, albeit silently.

As for publishing, definitely go for it! You've got the talent and even if you hear a no, keep going. There's a lot of crap being published now-a-days and we need quality writing like yours to counteract that.

Hope you had a GREAT Christmas and have an equally awesome new year!

Wow, a new year already? I'm so happy that you've been able to accomplish such great things. I learned about your work during the past summer and have been addicted to it ever since. Everytime I see that you've posted another chapter of a story I quickly go read it. I love your stories and how you're able to bring characters to life. Seriously, I'm in love with Brett Dawson and Riley Hawkin. I love the stories The Prettiest Thing and The Flower Girl. You have done such an amazing job on all of them and I feel that you will only get better. It's impossible for you to get worse! I'm happy that you are taking this step in getting your stories published! I want to be able to buy a book of yours one day! I love the short story idea, it's great. So basically, thank you for writing and I hope that you will continue in the future because I'm an addict.

(ps. If the sequel of The Flower Girl is about Alice and Brookston's child, what is going to happen to Molly and Hawkin?? Will they die? I don't know if my heart can handle that! Oh gosh, I love this story.)

I guess we all can't believe that the new year is coming? But, thank you for putting out such great stories and thank you for giving me tips on how to write a great stories when I emailed you that one time and you replied back. You are an inspiration to me and you always be; not only to me but to everyone else who loves your stories.

Be sure to have a lot of confidence in your stories when the new year comes, ok? We will always support you and give you our honest opinions about your stories. Plus, I can't wait if you publish your stories and if you do make sure that Barnes & Nobles sale them please. We need some clean cut romantic stories that isn't all about sex.

Anyway, have a great year and enjoy it.

LUV YA!!!
