Inspiration

Good morning, everyone. I should be packing since I am driving to Ohio this morning to spend Memorial Day Weekend with my parents but I just wanted to drop by and see how everyone is. I am doing good - trying to relax and slow my mind down for a little bit. I also bought True Blood first season DVD so I have been kind of watching nothing but that lately.

I know I have a lot of stories unfinished at the moment but with everything that has happened, a story idea has popped into my mind and I wanted to run it by all of you to see what the general consensus in regards to it was.

Fall from Grace
by Kate
Grace Prince seems to be the perfect girl. Straight-A student. Daddy’s girl. Best friends with mom. About to start applying to some of the best colleges in the country. But then she meets bad-boy Evan and as they grow closer, everything else around her begins to fall apart.

This story would be a bit more on the dark side like A Pocketful of Poppies was. It would follow Grace and her slow descent into falling in with the wrong crowd. There would be drinking, partying, experimenting with drugs and having sex. Despite all of this, it will also be a love story - a strange, slightly fucked-up love story but one nonetheless.

I am working on the first chapter but I am taking my time with it, not wanting to rush anything. Does this sound interesting at all? Please leave me a comment and let me know! I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions (keep the cruelty to yourselves) Thank you and I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Sounds amazing! I would definitely read it. True Blood is also fantastic. Bill Compton is greater than Edward Cullen. He's a REAL vampire. I'm waiting for season two. Enjoy your trip!

I know I would read it!! Of course, everything you write is fantastic. I like the idea that it's going to be a little bit darker, because, I loved the Pocketful of Poppies dynamic. I look forward to it!

I think it does sound like a good premise. Hopefully your inspiration for this new story will carry through to your other ones as well. :] Good luck!

I would read it. I loved pocketful of poppies and anything else by you. Looking forward to it.

I would read it as long as there's a convincing reason the FMC falls off her path. It feels a little bit like Fallon from The Waverly Myth, at least has that kind of a vibe.

I think you can do it. Good luck!

I think this sounds awesome...I totally loved PFoP and just the small summary hooks me in...I look very forward to it. And I'm an so terribly sorry that all this stuff happened to you...people have no respect for others and its really a butthole...But you are so one of my favorite authors!

I think that the idea has definite potential--A Pocketful of Poppies was one of my favorite stories by you, along with The Waverly Myth because it touched upon those darkest aspects.

Nothing's perfect all the times and you're one of the great writers at portraying that and yet keeping it realistic, keeping grounded and sensible. Others have a tendency to go overboard, I've found.

I love the idea! It kind of reminds me of Marissa from the OC, when she started dating Kevin Volchok. Although, that wasn't too much of a love story and had a sad ending. But it was on of my favorite parts of the series because it was steamy and showed a true side of life. I can't wait to see how your story turns out, I like the darker stories from you. They are different and very real which I think many people can relate to. I'm so glad you're back.

I think it is a fantastic idea! It will really show how diverse you're writing is. I'm so excited to see where this goes. I have a feeling it will be another one of my favorites. I love your darker stories with depth and meaning, like A Pocketful of Poppies. You're really good at trying to get the reader to connect with the characters, whether you know it or not! But I still LOVE the other stories too, don't get me wrong! Also, I sort of figured out why people bash your more mature stories. I think Fiction Press has been polluted with the typical cliche stories about high school love stuff. Stories that are not like you're amazing work. So, just don't get discouraged if this story gets readers who are immature and weirded out because they don't have an open mind. Okay, thats enough of my rant! I'm really excited for this potential new edition!

Looks like this will be another hit for you if you decide to post it on fp. I'm definitely looking forward to reading it at the time that it comes out.
On another note, have you heard about http://www.authonomy.com/? It's done in relation to HarperCollins and the top five picks every month get to be reviewed and considered for publishing by them. With your fan following, I bet that you would be able to crack the top 5 no problem!

I hope you had a great time in Ohio for your memorial weekend!! It's nice to know your'e doing good! Enjoy the sun while it last! Sadly enough, I didn't get the chance to do that and now the clouds seems to be picking up in my area!

Anyways enough of my rambling, need you have to ask about us reading your work?! I've read most of your work and I'm still fishing for more! I love it! And always enjoy it!
